Join the Close Brothers Compliance Team where you will support Central Compliance with various matters such as Whistleblowing investigation and lead the firm’s ongoing SMCR operations and ensuring that Close Brothers remains regulatory compliant with the PRA and FCA expectations.
The successful candidate will coordinate with other central functions such as HR, Legal, CoSec, TPM, other compliance roles and dealing with SMCR compliance issues in line with respective activities to ensure SMCR compliance.

Responsibilities:

The Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading the firm’s compliance on SMCR according to the regulatory requirements which include:

  • Provision of advice on PRA and FCA rule and guidance interpretation relating to various matters in particular, SMCR, third party risk management and regulatory engagement.
  • Keeping the Management Responsibilities Map up-to-date.
  • Preparation of high-quality external documentation such as SMF applications for new candidates or existing SMF holders changing roles.
  • Leading on internal documents such as Reasonable Steps and Handover Documents before they are sent to Senior Managers for review.
  • Working with HR on the certified persons workflow including identification of certified persons, working with HR who are tracking F & P, this person will then be responsible for updating the Financial Services Register.
  • Reviewing and updating SMCR training materials and delivery to different audiences.
  • Challenging and updating the SMCR / Cosec / HR operating model and driving operational changes and improvements including control enhancements.
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory and landscape change, and responsibility for assessing, analysing the impact, provision of guidance, interpretation and implementation of any new requirements, and embedding any regulatory change in the institution particularly regulatory change pertaining to SMCR.
  • The provision of papers and data or MI to Committees or Fora owned by Compliance, including the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) Oversight Committee, which reports to the CBL Board.
