Responsibilities:

CORPORATE AND PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engages in good labour management relationships; ensuring compliance with collective agreement and TCH human resource policies; and participating in grievance proceedings as required.
  • Delivers training and programs, ensuring they are presented in an effective, efficient, economical and environmentally sensitive way.
  • Participates in ad hoc committees involving training and related issues as assigned by Staff Sergeant.
  • Provides support in crises and emergency situations as required.
  • Works with Specialist of Compliance, Training and Quality Assurance to ensure an effective and efficient curriculum is developed and presented to CSU members.
  • Works with the training Staff Sergeant to promote health and safety strategies in support of a target of zero lost time due to workplace injury.
  • Review of community based statistical data (CSU reports) and make correlating training recommendations to Staff Sergeant.
  • Assist Staff Sergeant with the design, planning, coordination, scheduling, instruction, debriefing and evaluation of courses that are delivered by the CSU Training Bureau.
  • Works with Staff Sergeant to build an environment that supports staff to achieve business results, provide excellent customer service, effective decision-making, lead healthy lifestyles and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Recognizes training/development needs and works with Staff Sergeant to coordinate and develop lesson plans to address those needs.
  • Works with Staff Sergeant to provide CSU members performance feedback and takes appropriate action to improve performance, including discipline when necessary
  • Assist Staff Sergeant in the development of a tailored curriculum that meets operational needs, inclusive of service to vulnerable tenants and diverse communities.
  • Supports and assists the Tactical Corporal in course presentation and supervision of courses.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
