CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT

This role will involve accounting for a variety of industries including mining, heavy equipment construction, and consulting. The ideal candidate will have superior communication skills, solid accounting experience, the ability to meet important deadlines, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to switch tasks at a moment’s notice. As today’s business environment is constantly changing the responsibilities of this role are likely to change unexpectedly. The key to long term success in this role will be tied to the candidate’s ability to adapt. Artificial Intelligence is likely to be implemented into this role in the future and the candidate must be willing to explore its optimization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Designated CPA or pursuing CPA is an asset but not a requirement.
- Familiarity with Sage 300 and QuickBooks
- Excellent communications and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team player
- Flexibility to assist with various tasks within the accounting environment
- Ability to self-manage and take initiative
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner

Responsibilities:
- Maintain chart of accounts and financial statement specifications for corporate group, including detailed job cost codes
- GL account analysis and journal entry preparation
- Reviewing bank reconciliations
- Assisting in preparing annual financial statements including year-end working paper preparation and preparation of internal financial statements
- Conducting regulatory filings and remittances
- Participating in project and operating budget development and reviews
- Cash flow projections
- Administering payroll, associated database management, and job cost reporting
- Prepare and review financial statement working papers
- Perform financial analysis
- Prepare and review financial and management ad-hoc reports
- Responsible for the timely preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages
- Preparation of corporate tax returns
- Prepare and review GST reconciliations and file GST returns before deadline
- Correspond with CRA for tax related matters
- Support cash management and treasury requirements
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by management
