Description:

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves constructing and operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.
Woodfibre Management Ltd is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Position
The Corporate Accountant is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s Finance, Accounting, and Tax team. You will lead or assist on intercompany transactions, Financial Statements, management reports, internal audit, annual external audit, tax filing, budget, planning, etc. You will report to the Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Manage daily operations of general accounting functions.
  • Verify accurate vendor setup, invoice coding, payment posting, and ensure compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
  • Track major EPC project invoice and ensure invoice aligns with the contractual term.
  • Prepare intercompany invoices with data reconciliation and supporting.
  • Assist in month end closing by entering period end accruals, intercompany invoice, and adjustments.
  • Perform Month-end reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations. Identify discrepancies, prepare analysis on account variances, and reach out across departments to collaborate on corrective actions.
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of management reporting template to improve financial reporting and monitoring tools and reduce manual work.
  • Support with project reporting, project financing and other related tasks.
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports, ad-hoc and special projects as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing the annual financial budget and tax budget.
  • Assist on internal/external audit and Tax filing.
  • Assist with SAP system implementation.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with CPA designation.
  • 4-5+ years of Finance and Accounting working experience, preferably in Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction, Utilities, or Consulting Firm industry.
  • Proven experience in project accounting, full cycle accounting, financial reporting, and management reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of project financing, project budget, financial budget and tax budget.
  • Proficient in use of accounting ERP system includes but not limited to SAP.
  • Excellent skills in MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of financial budget and tax budget.
  • Experience in working with centralized accounting process center, headquarter and subsidiaries.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contributing to the team’s overall success.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and being effective in a fast-paced and changing complex environment.
