Responsibilities:
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Taylor McCaffrey is seeking a Legal Assistant to work closely on a team to support partners and associates in the area of corporate and commercial law, real estate, business planning and estate planning and real estate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle administrative tasks with respect to opening and closing files, and perform conflict searches.
- Organize and manage files by scanning and copying documents.
- Prepare letters to clients and exchange e-mails with clients.
- Draft simple corporate, commercial and trust documents.
- Fill out prescribed legal forms, including corporate forms.
- Compile electronic document books.
- Review forms of Offer to Purchase in order to determine key transactional details.
- Open files and assist with preparation of documents for purchase, sale and financing transactions in real estate program (Lawyer Done Deal).
- Prepare various Land Titles documents including Transfers, Mortgages, Caveats, Personal Property Security Notices, Discharges and Requests.
- Assist with due diligence including searches of public records.
- Assist with completing registrations in applicable Land Titles Offices and Personal Property Registries.
- Scheduling internal and external meetings, phone calls, and outlook calendar events.
- Preparing invoices, attending to trust account deposits and requisitions, managing holdback accounts.
- Monitor and respond to phone calls.
- Communicate professionally with all internal lawyers and staff, and external clients, referral sources and government offices.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
