THE COMPANY
B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia, and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 800,000 – 870,000 ounces in 2024.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role with significant site or construction based experience;
- P.Eng, P.E., or equivalent professional engineer license;
- Previous experience with mine site infrastructure, ideally in design and construction;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated experience in report writing and public presentations;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint;
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment but also available to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Available to think strategically with a big-picture mindset;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in challenging jurisdictions a strong asset.
JOB DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is based out of our Vancouver head office with frequent international travel required which may be on short notice and long duration (approximately 30% of the time annually).
Responsibilities:
- Provide civil engineering input to mine and project sites for planning, design, construction, operation, and rehabilitation and closure of various infrastructure, to include surface water control systems, rock dumps, roads, workshops, offices, camps, and other mine site facilities;
- Ensure the completion of detailed construction and project design criteria, including all technical and environmental criteria;
- Create phased project construction schedules to support mine and project sites in the execution of plans and designs;
- Manage and lead engineering consultants to complete technical studies and deliver functional and operational projects;
- Manage and support project engineering studies, including technical reports meeting the standards of Canadian NI 43-101;
- Estimate capital and operating costs for mine site infrastructure to conceptual, feasibility, and construction level estimates, as needed;
- Prepare and deliver professional communications including memos, reports, and presentations;
- Support with implementation of B2Gold environmental, sustainability, and emissions targets, including the estimation of GHG emissions and carbon costs for mine infrastructure plans and capital projects;
- Prepare and maintain project schedules and budgets;
- Maintain records of technical design, construction, and operations documents;
- Support permitting activities, as required;
- Manage and /or perform discrete projects, as required;
- Ensure that designs and plans meet all regulatory, B2Gold and industry standards for health, safety, and environmental parameters;
- Maintain communication with sites in relation to construction activities, including construction management, department managers, and mine managers;
- Travel to current and future operations and projects of B2Gold, as required;
- Participate in due diligence and assessment of mine projects related to acquisitions and mergers;
- Maintain current industry best practice and international performance standards; and
- Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
