Description:

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Track record working in international organisations, working at both Division / Region and PLC level.
  • Experience in UK FTSE listed company.
  • Experience preferred in business transformation / turnaround programmes.
  • Knowledge of relevant marine / energy / defence sectors.
  • Degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Business Management, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in B2B external communications, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including developing media strategies and managing press inquiries gained within technical industries or markets is essential.
  • Excellent writing, and editing, skills with experience in creating engaging content for various channels.
  • Ability to influence and drive results in complex, multinational environment.
  • Highly resilient with a natural energy and determination.
  • Excellent team player who actively takes an interest in their team to consistently deliver outstanding results.

THE ROLE

Communications is key to this success and we’re looking for an ambitious Corporate Communications Manager that will play a central role in the supporting the company’s ongoing ambitions.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the strategy and execution of our internal and external communications – working in close partnership with our Global Communications and Marketing Team. The role is located in Aberdeen but offers hybrid working – and opportunities to visit our international locations.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and Implement communication strategies: work closely with the Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing to create and execute comprehensive internal and external communication plans. These will promote the company’s brand, values, products, and services across various channels, including media, social media, and online platforms.
  • Deliver strategic communications, including Annual Reporting and Accounts: drive and deliver high quality communications in support of our annual reporting cycle, from Annual and Sustainability reporting, through to financial results communications.
  • Build and manage key relationships: cultivate and manage relationships with internal and external partners, from Senior Leadership and Executive Committee, through to media relationships and organisation bodies, that will enhance the brand and corporate reputation.
  • Develop and lead external communications: building a new framework for delivering external communications aligned to the business needs. Ensure strong relationships are built with key journalists and editors in priority markets globally. Work closely with the Finance and Investor Relationships team to ensure delivery of consistent investor messaging.
  • Lead internal communications: recognising its importance in delivering business and culture transformation at the company. Includes key support for driving the Employee Engagement priority at James Fisher, in partnership with HR Function.
  • Lead content creation and campaigns: develop compelling content for various internal and external audiences, across multiple channels and events. Ensure all content aligns with the company’s brand voice and strategic objectives.
  • Deliver crisis communications: implement crisis communication plans to address any potential reputational risks. Providing advice and support .
  • Ensure compliance and governance: ensure all external communications comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Provide leadership to the corporate communications function: develop and motivate the team and its skill base, providing strong functional leadership and ensuring processes are in place for effective and consistent management. Enable the growth of individuals through effective performance management
  • Prioritise Exceptional Safety: at all times, acting as an ambassador and champion both internally and externally.
