POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Corporate Contracts Specialist will be responsible to perform a range of duties including negotiating contract terms, preparing contracts, evaluating bids, and researching current regulations. The ideal incumbent should enjoy drafting and editing contracts, demonstrating excellent attention to detail abilities. In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should also possess in-depth knowledge of procurement regulations, contract agreements, and legal terminology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in law or a relevant field, with manufacturing and/or construction management experience.
- A minimum of 5 years in a similar role, or legal background in administering corporate contracts is acceptable in lieu of formal education.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement regulations, contract documents, and legal specifications.
- Thorough understanding of contract writing, project management & accounting principles.
- Experience working within a heavy construction, engineering and manufacturing environment and have knowledge of construction processes by which the works will be undertaken.
- Experience preparing and issues project notice documentation.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), familiarity with Project Management systems.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for each phase of contract development from researching the legal regulations. Review will include but not be limited to occupation health and safety, liquidated damages, payment terms, and negotiating the terms – while preparing the electronic and/or print document, for final approval.
- Collaborate with Executive Director and legal representatives to evaluate bids and ensure that the terms of contractual agreements are written in language that is legally binding and in accordance with the desires of the organization.
- Responsible for detailing out areas within contracts and terms and conditions that do not align with Albarrie’s corporate strategy and/or create risk for the company and highlight these to the Executive Director – for review with legal counsel.
- Work closely with the Directors and project teams, as well as other functional teams, to ensure they fully understand the deliverables for a contract/master service agreement, what risk there is to the organization, and make recommendations on mitigating risk.
- Coordinate and issue change orders, sub-contracts and sub-contract amendments following review and approval of internal requisitions by the project management team.
- Lead the review of any claims received from sub-contract suppliers and prepare and issue an appropriate response for project management approval.
- Responsible for managing an electronic document control system to manage and evaluate all contract activities, as they progress.
- Review and outline potential legalities around Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements, for final approval by the Executive Director.
- Proofread, edit, and fact-check legal documents for accuracy and consistency, according to a style guide if provided by the client.
- Collaborate with the Quality and Process team, to create and edit business processes, to ensure alignment between contract management and each legal entity.
