Barrios Technology has a need for a Corporate Controller to join the Corporate team located in the Clear Lake area of Houston, TX.

Barrios employees actively participate in the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry through our partnerships with companies leading commercial space development, as well as successfully supporting NASA as our primary government customer. Our long history supporting Low Earth Orbit (LEO) on the International Space Station, and now Commercial LEO, lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon through our work on Orion, Gateway, and the Space Launch System.
Responsibilities:
Barrios Technology continues to experience exciting growth in the aerospace industry, and we are seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller to lead our internal functions in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Internal Controls, and Payroll. This position will report to the Deputy Director of Finance.
The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of successful experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager, particularly with government customers and contractors. We are looking for a leader with strong communication and organizational skills, as well as expertise in cost accounting and timekeeping systems. A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential. This is a hands-on managerial role that involves leading a small team and fostering relationships across the organization. We need a proactive leader who excels at problem-solving, isn’t afraid to think outside the box and embodies a “can-do” attitude.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager, 10+ years total experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across the company and contribute to shared goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Self-motivated and committed to a continuous improvement mindset and professional development.
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving skills.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a small accounting and finance department.
- Lead payroll processes to ensure reliability and compliance.
- Collect and consolidate financial data efficiently.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate month-end and year-end processes.
- Develop strategic plans for financial and accounting operations.
- Prepare financial statements by lines of business including cash flow statements and ad hoc management reports.
- Serve as the focal point for bank and monitor for adequate and timely cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards.
- Coordinating external auditor activity, including government related audits.
- Provide insights and recommendations to company leaders for decision-making purposes.
- Managing budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Establish and maintain financial controls.
- Assess and enhance accounting procedures for efficiency.
- Continuously improve the utilization of accounting software.
- Identify, develop, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for financial performance.
- Ensure timely filing of Company’s tax documents.
- Recruit, train and develop accounting team.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
