The Corporate and Product Development team partners with senior management and business leadership on global strategic initiatives, including: developing the firm’s long-term strategy and managing related projects, analyzing business/operational workflows, commercializing new investment products, and executing acquisitions. This highly visible team works on projects across Conning’s affiliates and investment centers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The position will be based in Conning’s Boston office but may require travel to Conning’s other regional offices.
The successful candidate is an individual who adds significant value immediately upon joining Conning. Working alongside the Head of Corporate and Product Development and other experienced team members, the candidate will be highly involved in all aspects of the group’s responsibilities and is expected to take a leadership role on key projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities typically include: coordinating strategic project across business units, investment centers and affiliates; researching and synthesizing market trends into an actionable corporate strategy; sourcing and evaluating potential M&A targets; supporting the launch of new investment offerings and enhancing the commercialization of existing investment capabilities.
This position is open to both pre- and post-MBA candidates. This is a demanding and rewarding position offering great opportunity and career experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidate will be analytical, adaptive, hungry, a self-starter, a problem solver, a team player, a multi-tasker, results-oriented and possess a strong work ethic, excellent oral and written communication skills and a positive attitude
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
- 2 - 6 years of post-undergraduate, pre- or post-MBA work experience in corporate development, investment banking, consulting, private equity, or investment management roles
- Preference for candidates with an interest in pursuing relevant professional qualifications (e.g., the CFA Charter), and/or with financial institutions experience/knowledge (particularly with asset managers, insurers, or other financial services businesses)
- A strong, demonstrated interest in financial markets
- Highly proficient in business and analytical software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, financial databases)
- Superior attention to detail
- Must be comfortable working in a high-energy, quickly changing and demanding environment and able to maintain a flexible schedule and work extended hours, as required
- Decision Making Level/Position Latitude – describe the type and extent of controls that limit the position’s freedom to make final decisions or take action. Please also describe level of supervision required, as well as the impact of errors.
This position has the ability to make some decisions with autonomy and independence, and could receive significant direction from the senior team based upon performance.
