Description:
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably within the energy, industrial, or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing safety programs and achieving compliance with OHSA 85 of 1993.
- Proven track record of fostering a positive safety culture in a large organization.
- Willingness to travel to various sites and locations as required.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
- Ability to work extended hours during emergencies or critical incidents.
Responsibilities:
The Corporate Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the safety programs and initiatives across Pele Energy Group (Pty) Ltd (“PEG”). This role is critical in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA), and relevant regulations in accordance with the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) Performance Standards (“PS”) 2012 and International Labour Organisation (“ILO”) Core Conventions1 and all other ILO Conventions ratified by South Africa. Knowledge of these frameworks are key in minimizing risk to employees, contractors, and the public. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in safety management within the energy sector or similar industries.
