SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Utilize your technical legal and procedural understanding of corporate law and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing and analyzing corporate commercial contracts, including but not limited to service agreements, joint operating agreements, participating agreements and other agreements necessary to conduct operations.

  • Ensure that applications, agreements and contracts are filed in a timely manner.
  • Meet with Corporate Lawyers to discuss questions raised by clients and then relate information back to leadership.
  • Preferred working knowledge and familiarity with regards to Canadian corporate and contract law and experience in:
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Distribution, licensing and shareholder agreements
  • Corporate governance:
  • Incorporations and organizations (Quebec, Ontario and federal);
  • Amendments, dissolutions, continuances and amalgamation (Quebec, Ontario and federal).
  • Commercial agreements

Draft emails in response to queries by clients and build trust through effective and accurate communication.

  • Assist in the elaboration of scopes of work and client step-memos.
  • Follow up with internal teams to ensure all processes and procedures are in alignment to execute client request.
  • Ensure that lawyers are always advised of client related issues.
  • Attend seminars and professional development courses relevant to the area of specialty as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience.

  • 2-3 years in a legal support role preferably in the corporate and employment law space.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal French language skills and, because this role interacts with National and or Global clients, bilingualism in French and English is a definite asset

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diplôme universitaire de premier cycle, diplôme collégial ou expérience équivalente.

  • Deux à trois ans d’expérience en prestation de services juridiques, de préférence en droit des sociétés et droit de l’emploi.

  • Excellent sens de l’organisation et de solides aptitudes en communication verbale et écrite.
  • Grand souci du détail.
  • Excellentes compétences en français écrit et verbal et, puisque vous interagirez avec des clients nationaux et internationaux, la maîtrise du français et de l’anglais est un atout indéniable.
