Description:

With more than 200 attorneys from offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Houston and The Woodlands, Kean Miller serves the legal needs of the people, businesses, and industries that drive the regional economy.
Kean Miller is seeking an experienced Corporate Real Estate Legal Secretary in our Baton Rouge office. The selected candidate will provide overall legal administrative support, drafting, editing, formatting, and proofreading documents, as well as assist in document preparation for Commercial Real Estate transactions and closings.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Support all aspects of real estate transactions, including review of title documents, surveys and plats and drafting title objection letters and responses.
  • Coordination and preparing real estate closing documents for review by attorneys (i.e. escrow instructions, deeds, easements, owner’s affidavits, closing certificates, entitlements and statements).
  • Reviewing legal descriptions, surveys, title commitments and exception documents.
  • Detail-focused with strong proofreading ability to ensure accuracy and consistency.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technological proficiency in software including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Familiar with, or has the ability to become highly proficient in, technology for timekeeping, billing, redline or a track changes document software and document management systems.

ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enters conflict checks and opens files. Maintains files, both electronically and physically. Closes files per firm file closing procedures.
  • Assists attorneys with time entries as needed.
  • Prepares attorney expense reimbursement requests, assists with Attorney calendars, and may schedule travel.
