Job Title: Senior Manager – Tax Compliance and Operations
Location: Hybrid Working (London EC4M 3 days/Remote 2 days)
Days/Hours worked: Monday-Friday, 35-hour week (Flexitime)
Report to: Corporation Tax Director
Direct reports: TBC

    Day to Day Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:
    We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Corporation Tax Senior Manager to step into a new and exciting role within our growing corporation tax team. The successful candidate will be working with complex clients across multiple sectors and will take responsibility for the corporation tax compliance and day to day operations of the team. Reporting into the Corporation Tax Director to provide key metrics regarding deliverables, performance against budget and updates to the processes and policies applied to scoping, quoting, preparing and de-risking the tax compliance process for our audit clients.

Your work will include:

  • Scoping and quoting for work
  • Reviewing tax computations/returns/tax notes
  • Advising on all compliance related matters (tax payments, capital allowances, group relief, deductions allowance etc)
  • Managing and overseeing all aspects of corporate tax compliance for our audit clients
  • Leading and mentoring a team of more junior staff ensuring they have the relevant skills to support you within this role.
  • Ensuring the correct procedures are in place to meet all upcoming deadlines and filing requirements.
  • Working closely with the audit team to manage workflow timelines making sure the tax compliance process falls within that.
  • Help to spot opportunities and where appropriate, work on the ad hoc advisory pieces which are generated from the portfolio of clients.
  • Work with our transactions team to understand the implementation of any advice given in the year and ensure the relevant disclosures have been made on the tax returns.
  • Drive process improvement across the firm
  • Ensure that team members are aware of upcoming changes that may impact clients and drive marketing campaigns where additional advice may be needed across the board.
  • Managing team budgets
  • Work alongside our TDR team where clients receive HMRC enquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • CTA qualified (desirable) but may also be qualified by experience.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrable project and staff management experience.
  • Experience using tax software, such as CCH and Alpha Tax, as well as cloud bookkeeping and accounting software to retrieve financial data.
  • Experience leading, scoping, and quoting for tax compliance work.
  • Ability to manage a varied portfolio of clients, spanning multiple sectors including international groups.
  • Highly proficient with the use of Microsoft Excel, including (but not limited) to data cleansing and analysis skills.
  • Ability to obtain the relevant information from clients to prepare well-considered, technical, de-risked corporation tax computations.
  • Ability to prepare accurate quantitative financial analysis with suitable and intelligible control mechanisms.
  • Ability to implement effective audit processes and trails to maintain accurate and verifiable records to support the firm’s ability to efficiently access and leverage internal records and workings.
