CORRECTIONS ADVISOR

Location: San Jose, Costa Rica
Work Status: Full-time
Clearance: MRPT certification or RSO certification for foreign nationals

POSITION DESCRIPTION

ATSG is presently identifying candidates for a Corrections Advisor position in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Corrections Advisor will join the ATSG team and enhance our partnership with the U.S. Department of State (DOS) Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs’ (INL) on the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) - Costa Rica task order. Based upon the success of the initial CARSI contract, this effort will expand the scope of work beyond Central American to include all WHA countries. The CARSI Initiative, a large and sophisticated multilateral security effort, provides funding for the USG to assist the governments of the CARSI countries with police professionalization, justice sector reform, counter narcotics efforts, border security management, crime and violence prevention, and anti-corruption efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. citizen, TCN or LN.
  • MRPT certification or RSO Clearance for foreign nationals.
  • FSI level 3/3 Spanish.
  • FSI level 3/3 English.
  • Experience briefing in Spanish and English.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university in any field with preference given to degrees in criminal justice, social sciences, accounting, or communications.
  • Graduate of a U.S. federal or state corrections or probation officer academy certified by a POST commission or equivalent, and of at least 120 hours in length.
  • Rank of Associate Warden or Deputy Warden (or equivalent or higher).
  • Three (3) years of managerial and supervisory experience as a Deputy Warden or Warden (or equivalent).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years of experience working on international corrections issues preferred.
  • Experience working overseas preferred.
  • Experience working or coordinating with other relevant U.S. government agencies (e.g., Departments of Justice, Defense, DEA and/or USAID) preferred.
