Salary: $9,142 to $14,625 per month (EM-05, Minimum to Maximum).

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
General Experience: Three and one half years of progressively responsible professional work experience which involved developing lesson plans and conducting instruction in a program of training or education.
Specialized Experience: Two years of professional work experience in a staff development and training program which involved responsibility for planning, developing, and evaluating staff development, and training programs and activities.
Supervisory Experience: One year of work experience which involved supervising others. The supervisory work experience may have been gained concurrently with the Specialized Experience or in a different functional area.
Managerial Aptitude: Managerial aptitude rather than actual managerial experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary managerial abilities and/or potential.

Responsibilities:

This single position class is responsible for planning, developing, directing, coordinating and evaluating a training and staff development program for all employees (managers, supervisors, Adult Corrections Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, security personnel, food service workers, and other administrative, professional, clerical and support personnel) in the State Department of Public Safety. Such responsibility involves assessing ongoing and emerging training and staff development needs; developing training curricula to provide departmental employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively (including coverage of health and safety issues and specialized training for Adult Corrections Officers and Law Enforcement Officers); overseeing the scheduling and conduct of training activity by the central training staff and by the facility based trainers; and maintaining and awareness of incidents and current issues which may need to be addressed by the provision of training in order to ensure compliance with federal and State mandates, etc.
