Robert Half Finance & Accounting is searching for a talented Cost Accountant on behalf of a reputable construction services company in Metairie, Louisiana.
The Cost Accountant will partner closely with the corporate accounting team in Houma. This individual will be responsible for the accounting and financial management of company construction projects, including project budgeting, tracking project costs, and financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
The Cost Accountant will also contribute to the development of internal financial controls, accounting compliance, and the swift resolution of discrepancies when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years of cost based accounting experience
Minimum 3 years of construction (or similar “job cost” industry experience)
Bachelor of Accounting or Finance Degree (or similar field) - Required
Demonstrated knowledge and application of GAAP accounting principles
Demonstrated success in compliance oversight, as related to all state and federal regulations
Proficiency in Procore project management software – Preferred
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software – Required
Occasional travel required within region

Monitors project budgets and performs regular variance analysis (budgeted vs. actual cost).
Prepares monthly cost reports for company leadership.
Prepares monthly billing reports while ensuring timely client payment.
Develops internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial records.
Ensures compliance against company accounting policies and GAAP accounting principles.
Resolves discrepancies between budgeted costs and actual expenses.
Analyzes potential impact of changes in project scope or timeline.
Prepares supporting documentation as necessary for annual audit.
Prepares and reconciles P& L (Profit and Loss) and Balance Sheet statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Complies with all state, federal, and local regulations.
