    We are currently looking for a Cost Analyst to join our busy and growing manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

The Cost Analyst will be a key contributor to the accounting department with the objective of delivering a high level of accuracy, integrity, and timeliness reporting. The individual will work collaboratively with both the accounting team and other departments to achieve corporate objectives, deadlines and enforce corporate policies.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles, specifically in Cost Accounting
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing ERP Systems – Microsoft Business Central preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and excellent analytical abilities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 2 years of cost systems background in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities:

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting directly to the Accounting Lead - Costing/Payroll/General Accounting, the Cost Analyst role will be a key contributor to the accounting department with the objective of delivering a high level of accuracy, integrity, and timeliness reporting. The individual will work collaboratively with both the accounting team and other departments to achieve corporate objectives, deadlines and enforce corporate policies.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze and monitor production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to identify variances
  • Collaborate with the Shipping and Receiving team to track inventory movements and support the inventory reconciliation process
  • Review output and consumption reports, including daily input, to ensure accuracy
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing expected costs to actual production costs
  • Assess current production processes to identify inefficiencies, ensuring established procedures are followed to minimize errors and optimize resource utilization
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports for external auditors
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures and identifying possible opportunities for improving the efficiency of production to improve profitability
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Other ad-hoc reports and duties as assigned
