Position Overview
The Product Cost Engineer & Pricing Analyst plays a critical role in driving the business case for HPDI components within Cespira by supporting both cost reduction initiatives and pricing strategies. This hybrid role is responsible for analyzing product costs, driving cost management and reduction, and aligning those efforts with competitive pricing strategies to optimize the profitability and competitiveness of our HPDI products.
The Product Cost Engineer & Pricing Analyst responsibilities includecompleting techno-economic analysis that considers the impact of automated production equipment, supply chain availability/localization/impacts, operational overhead, operational strategy, material choice, cleanliness levels, manufacturability in different processes and component design to validate business cases for new products and capital investments. The ideal candidate will possess a proven history of managing product cost in a design, engineering and manufacturing environment. The role requires a robust analytical skill set and proficiency with cost management tools. Candidates should also possess the ability to address a multitude of administrative support needs promptly and professionally.
Position Responsibilities

Cost engineering

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis on HPDI components, including material costs, production processes, and supply chain impacts.(Both for components from suppliers but also inhouse manufacturing in Italy).
  • Develop and maintain baseline cost models and “should-cost” estimates for current and future products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop cost reduction initiatives, focusing on optimizing manufacturing processes and material sourcing.
  • Analyze the techno-economic impact of automated production equipment, operational overhead, and component design on overall product costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost management through data-driven insights and cost forecasting.
  • Develop strategies and plans in order to achieve cost reduction targets including collaborating with internal stakeholders on product costing roadmap
  • Actively take part in PDP (Product Development Process) and advise on manufacturing processes, design choices, material etc. in order to optimize cost

Price Analysis

  • Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and present on findings
  • Assess and analyze competitive pricing trends in the alternative fuel systems and heavy-duty vehicle industries.
  • Develop pricing models for HPDI components based on comprehensive cost analysis and market trends.
  • Provide input into the pricing strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and cost structures.
  • Present findings on pricing trends and cost impacts to senior leadership, and customer supporting decision-making on product pricing.
  • Customer interface when it comes to should cost analysis
  • Support the financial planning and budgeting processes through accurate cost forecasting

Collaborative and supporting

  • Assist various departments in understanding the cost conditions impacting product pricing, providing transparency across the organization.
  • Present findings on pricing trends and cost impacts to senior leadership, supporting decision-making on product pricing.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on cost management practices and pricing strategies
  • Support business cases for new products and capital investments by validating cost and pricing assumptions.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or other related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, pricing analysis, or a related field, ideally within a manufacturing or automotive environment. Experience with automotive powertrain components technology or alternative fuel systems components is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost management tools and pricing analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with cost modeling software is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement cost reduction strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear, concise manner.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
