Description:

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU AS A COST SURVEYOR?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience in cost control or a similar role. You possess a strong understanding of financial processes and have hands-on experience with automating reports
  • Experience in the process industry (e.g., petrochemical, chemical, energy, or contracting for these industries)Affinity with IT and able to program in e.g. Google sheets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A proactive, resourceful, and hands-on approach with a strong sense of initiative
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and challenges
  • Skilled in negotiation and securing the best value for the company
  • A cost-conscious mindset, always seeking opportunities for savings and efficiency
  • Willingness to work from our terminals within the Netherlands
  • DACE/ICEC certification is a plus

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A COST SURVEYOR?

As a Cost Surveyor, you’ll be the financial guardian of our Dutch terminals, ensuring that our maintenance and project teams stay on budget and deliver top-notch results. You’ll dive deep into the numbers, analyzing costs, labor hours, supplies, and infrastructure to pinpoint opportunities for savings and efficiency, ensuring that we get the best value for our money.
Your mission? To revolutionize how we manage project and maintenance costs. You’ll collaborate with engineers, maintenance crews, and procurement experts to identify areas for improvement and streamline our systems for maximum visibility and efficiency. By scrutinizing contracts, quotes, and invoices, you’ll optimize maintenance costs and keep our capital expenditure projects on track.
But that’s not all. You’ll also be the architect of our future procurement database. This powerful tool will empower our technical staff to create accurate and accessible estimates, ensuring that projects are executed with precision and financial control.

Your core responsibilities are:

  • Champion Vopak’s reputation for safety and quality in every interaction.
  • Be a trusted advisor to project and maintenance teams, analyzing quotes, contracts, and invoices to identify risks and savings opportunities.
  • Spot cost-saving potential and collaborate with stakeholders to turn ideas into action.
  • Partner with procurement to refine contract terms and create cost-effective templates for recurring tasks.
  • Ensure meticulous compliance with contract agreements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with project managers, tracking changes and ensuring alignment with contracts.
  • Empower stakeholders with insightful data and calculation tools for accurate cost control.
  • Proactively analyze trends and identify cost reduction opportunities, fostering a culture of savings.
  • Validate engineering scopes and external estimates for accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Increase cost awareness across teams through training and support, promoting informed decision-making
