Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Counter Sales Assistant/ Office Support within our Thanet Branch.
This position would be ideal for anyone who is currently or has recently worked in a similar trade counter environment ideally. In-house training for all computer and technical aspects of this role will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Maintain the highest possible level of customer service in order to maximise sales and margin
Use the correct picking, loading and advice documentation to fulfill customer orders for delivery
Ensure delivery vehicles are properly loaded
Deal with the receipt of suppliers’ deliveries and the associated documentation
Serve customers politely and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction
Provide customers with advice and guidance on the selection and use of products and support colleagues in your areas of expertise
Maximise sales using linked selling and other appropriate skills
Accurately identify products when serving a customer or picking goods for later collection/delivery
Complete yard books and/or advice notes accurately and promptly
Assist in the delivery of customer orders using Company transport where the appropriate licence is held
Follow the Company procedure in the handling of all monies and selection of payment types
Ensure the preparation of documentation and handling of goods returned by customers for credit/refund
Deal with any customer complaints quickly and properly, seeking guidance from your Supervisor/Branch Manager where needed or appropriate
Keep all sales and storage areas clean and tidy and merchandise stock where appropriate
Use stock rotation and advise of apparent stock shortages in order to achieve good stock management
Minimise loss through the careful selection, handling and storage of goods
Be mindful of the cost of damaged goods and keep to an absolute minimum ensuring that the Supervisor/Branch Manager is advised of any such breakage found
Operate plant and machinery properly and as necessary once qualified to do so
