As Country Medical Director for Roche Pharma (Switzerland) Ltd, you are part of the Swiss pharma affiliate of Roche with domicile in Basel-Stadt. We are a team of around 160 employees and are committed every day to ensuring that patients in Switzerland have access to Roche’s innovative portfolio of medicines. In an open, meaningful and familiar working environment, we tackle a wide range of challenges and are an important partner in the Swiss healthcare system.

The Opportunity and your main accountabilities

  • Leadership and Medical Compliance: Establish and maintain local medical and scientific independence, ensure medical compliance, and act as the local delegate of authority, upholding business integrity and company reputation.
  • Strategic Representation and Partnerships: Represent Roche’s scientific positions to key external partners, including scientific partnerships, governmental affairs, and media interactions. Form strategic partnerships with other pharma companies and patient advocacy groups.
  • Affiliate Leadership and Integration: Serve as a member of the affiliate leadership team, integrating development and operational functions (e.g., safety, regulatory, quality, clinical operations) to ensure coherent and aligned local and global functions. Foster professional cooperation with healthcare providers and external partners.
  • Innovative Solutions and Digitalization: Drive innovative solutions along the patient journey with a focus on digitalization and personalized healthcare. Enable access to the right diagnosis and treatment, demonstrating Roche’s pioneering medicine portfolio and integrated solutions.
  • Capability Development and Compliance: Catalyze capability development within the ecosystem, including startups and patient groups. Ensure compliance with local and global requirements for non-promotional and promotional materials, and oversee resourcing, qualification, and training to support talent growth and learning.
  • PDG collaboration in PDG Network Countries and Medical Affairs Network Countries: Collaborate with clinical operations and medical affairs to enhance clinical development capabilities, foster innovation, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, creating a robust and integrated strategy for delivering clinical programs to practice.
  • Evidence Generation / Cooperation in Medical Affairs Network: Accountable for generating clinical data to address evidence gaps and support patient access in alignment with global strategies, while ensuring high standards of trial conduct, data transparency, and maintaining Roche’s reputation as a reliable partner in evidence generation.

Who You Are

This leader should be strategic, customer-centric, able to manage complexity, and adept at balancing people development and external leadership.

  • Medical degree is required. Board certification in a medical specialty is appreciated
  • Proficiency in the German and English language, French is a plus
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical business with profound Medical Affairs experience
  • Understanding of the local health care system, including regulatory and payer environment
  • Possess a strong understanding of priority disease areas, new molecules, personalized medicine, and digital health, along with medical and strategic aspects of drug development, compliance, and substantial clinical practice and research experience.
