Course Description:
EDEC 260 Philosophical Foundations
Ideas essential for the development of a coherent educational theory and sound professional practice. Reflections on: the nature of the person, of reality, of knowledge, and of value; the aims of education, the nature of the school and the curriculum, the roles and responsibilities of professional educators.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Master educator with an MA (i.e., education foundations – philosophy, sociology, and history of education, curriculum studies, educational leadership) and extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience:
-

Expert knowledge and experience in:

  • Philosophy of Education
  • History of educational ideas
  • Contemporary issues in Education

Other:

  • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level

  • Experience as a school administrator, institutional leader, community leader and/or master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system is an asset
    Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
    Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
    Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
    Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
