EDEC 342 Intermediate Indigenous Language
Curriculum and Instruction: A study of Indigenous language phonology and structure, emphasizing the connection between the two, demonstrating the orderliness of many dialectic differences.
CL Credits: 3 (This course is not team-taught)
Schedule: June 6- June 14, 2023
June 6-10, 12-13: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm;
June 14: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Location: Kangiqsujuaq, Québec. Travel required and will be covered by the department.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education
- A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
Experience
- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.
- Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.
- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.
Other
- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date
- Preferred candidate will have demonstrated cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts and connection to First Nations and Inuit communities.
