Description:
The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences is seeking to appoint a Course Tutor to support the delivery of The University of Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine. This is a post-graduate programme that runs almost entirely online. Students will be working towards either a Post-graduate Diploma or a Master’s qualification. In addition, students may also take individual modules for continuing professional development and several training courses are also offered. The programme aims to provide a broad coverage of sleep medicine, ranging from the basic neuroscience of sleep and circadian rhythms to clinical intervention for sleep disorders. The programme is delivered online, with lectures pre-recorded for students to watch in their own time. Lectures are supplemented by live online group discussions, where students come together using web conferencing software to interact with one another and teaching staff.
The programme is made up of 8 topic modules and 2 research modules. The candidate will be responsible for implementing a review of course material. The candidate will co-ordinate and contribute to the update of lectures. The candidate will interact with leaders in sleep medicine. The candidate will contribute to teaching on topic modules relevant to their own expertise. Delivering the weekly discussion groups involves setting class assignments, marking, and feeding-back to students about their performance. The candidate will be responsible for implementing new digital learning technologies into all aspects of the live and recorded teaching practices. The candidate will be expected to support the summative examination and marking process, the admissions process and attend relevant committee meetings. The candidate will also lead the implementation of Sleep Medicine training courses.
It is essential that you have a degree in psychology, neuroscience, medicine or related discipline, hold a Ph.D. in human sleep research, or a closely related human research field and have an aptitude for and experience of teaching. It is desirable that you have experience of student examinations, student supervision at post-graduate level and experience of working in clinical sleep medicine or clinical research.
