ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualifications in a health field with current registration and authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in their relevant field of practice.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or postgraduate qualifications in mental health and/or management discipline.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership.
- Experience working with external stakeholders.
- Current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel to various courts in NSW.
Responsibilities:
The Adolescent Forensic Mental Health, Courts and Custody Manager is responsible for the operational management of two teams, the adolescent court team and the adolescent custodial team. The primary aims are: 1) to assist the court in the diversion of mentally ill, mentally disordered and/or cognitively impaired young people from Children’s Courts across NSW into community treatment; 2) for young people in custody, to optimise mental health and drug health assessment and treatment and ensure that young people have appropriate care pathways on release. The Manager will be responsible to support and assist the Service Director AFMH and Clinical Director AFMH with service improvement and operational management of the adolescent court and custody services and collaborate with clinicians across AFMH streams as well as Adolescent Health in custody. The Courts and Custody Manager will coordinate operations, manage Court and custody resources and provide support to clinicians to deliver an evidence based and effective care service. This role will assist AFMH to implement the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (Justice Health NSW) strategic plan and objectives. This position will work in partnership with the AFMH leadership team to develop effective and collaborative working relationships with external agencies including, Youth Justice NSW (YJNSW), Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), Aboriginal Support Unit (ASU), Local Health Districts (LHD’s), community treatment providers, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Non-Governmental organisations (NGO’s).
