Campion School & Language College is seeking a motivated cover supervisor to join its dedicated team, offering an excellent opportunity for professional development within a supportive Trust environment.
This role is ideal for individuals aspiring to become teachers or seeking to enhance their experience in an educational support capacity, as the successful candidate will collaborate across various departments to ensure effective learning continues in the absence of regular teachers.
Cover supervisors play an integral role in supervising classes when a member of teaching staff is absent. The role involves ensuring cover work is carried out by students alongside classroom management. Cover supervisors also carry out general administration work when not on cover, and work throughout the school.
Supervision will include the following responsibilities:

- Ensuring that work set by the absent teacher is distributed to students and explained.
- Supervising the completion of set tasks by students while providing explanations that enable them to problem solve and arrive at solutions.
- Modelling solutions and answers for students.
- Manage student behaviour so that the class is not disrupted or disruptive and follow school behavioural guidelines.
- Actively support and implement the Campion School behaviour policy.
- Cover as a tutor group mentor; registering students, accompanying them to assemblies, lead mentor time activities and promote their well-being and encourage their full participation in all aspects of school life.
- Support the SEN team with whole class delivery and/or individual student support and sessions.
- Individual learning assistance with a single or small group of students as directed by a teacher or school leaders, providing support that enables those students to problem solve and arrive at solutions.
- Act regarding the safety of students and other staff members.
