JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a Research Data Governance Officer to join our Clinical Practice Research Datalink team in the Safety and Surveillance group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a 24 month fixed term contract basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
We are currently operate a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help build on the CPRD’s 30-years of providing data for drug safety and epidemiological studies, resulting in over 3,500 peer-reviewed publications investigating drug safety, use of medicines, effectiveness of health policy, health care delivery and disease risk factors. The Research Data Governance (RDG) Officer is responsible for supporting the management of CPRD’s compliance with legal, regulatory, ethics and policy requirements, with a particular focus on information governance (IG). Reporting to the Research Data Governance (RDG) Team Leader, the post holder will provide research data governance support across all CPRD teams. The purpose of the role is to help ensure that CPRD’s primary care and linked data assets are managed and used legally, ethically, securely, efficiently and effectively to maximise the value of CPRD’s research data for public health research. The post holder will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.
We are seeking a motivated individual with experience of data or information governance, risk and compliance (GRC), ideally in an NHS, health, health research or health research services organisation. The post holder will be competent at managing and proactively resolving routine data governance issues, be highly organised/possess strong administrative skills, be capable of delivering multiple tasks to a high standard, possess good written and verbal communication skills, and be capable of liaising with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Our successful candidate will have:

  • A degree qualification or equivalent relevant work experience
  • The ability to develop, implement, maintain and review systems and services to ensure delivery of professional excellence.
  • The ability to remain alert to emerging issues and trends which might impact your work area.
  • Experience of data or information governance, risk and compliance (GRC), ideally in an NHS, health, health research or health research services organisation.
  • Knowledge of the benefits and sensitivities of using patient records in research.
