Description:
Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for a Crane Operator to join our operations out of Bedford, NS for the 2024 season. This position may involve travel to other parts of the province as the need arises.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of conventional crawler cranes to perform heavy lifts to support construction activities as well as performing pile driving operations. The Crane Operator is also responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and daily maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Complete daily pre and post use inspection of crane and rigging equipment
Provide safe and effective crane mobilization, operation, and de-mobilization
Complete daily crane maintenance (grease, lube, clean) and daily fluid top ups
Observe proper load hook-up and determine load safety;
Immediately advise of any requirements for maintenance or repairs;
Ensure compliance with crane policies & procedures
Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, safety meetings and other safety observation programs
Protect and promote the interest of this company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities;
Ensure safety of fellow employees;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
Must hold a valid Nova Scotia Class 1 Crane Operator license;
3-5 years experience as a Crane Operator, or equivalent experience;
Must have rigging knowledge to ensure all picks are secure and balanced;
Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules and code of conduct;
Ability to complete tasks such as driving piling and setting beams;
Willingness to work in a team environment;
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
Comply with all safety policies and procedures;
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly;
Working safely is a condition of employment.
