Description:
We are currently seeking a Certified Crane Operator / Rigger to join our Services Department. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various cranes and rigging equipment within the shipyard. As a Certified Crane Operator/Rigger, you will be responsible for operating and rigging mobile cranes with capacities up to 80 tons, as well as tower cranes and the 300-ton Goliath Gantry Crane, known as “Big Blue”.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Red Seal Crane operator, with mobile crane, tower crane, and overhead crane tickets 5+ years’ experience operating various cranes in an industrialized environment
- 5+ years’ experience in rigging in an industrialized environment
- Aerial Work Platform Ticket and Fall Arrest Certification would be considered an asset
- Forklift and Telehandler (Zoom Boom) Tickets would also be considered an asset
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with your team
- Ability to remain focused on assigned tasks
- Good interpersonal skills with your Dept along with other trades
- Understand the operations and limitations of the Dept Equipment
Responsibilities:
- Operate mobile cranes up to 80 Tons, 2 Tower Cranes, as well as a 300 Ton Goliath Gantry Crane, to lift, move, position, flip, turn, and place equipment and materials with single or multiple hook applications
- Perform Rigging Operations with all the cranes, hand rigging and all other tasks as assigned to the rigging team
- Perform pre-operational inspections, including hazard assessments, identify rigging required for tasks and calculate weights to prepare for rigging and hoisting
- Safely and effectively follow Seaspan-Vancouver Shipyard’s Policies, Regulations and Procedures
- Work with the Maintenance Department when required to assist with PM’s on the Lift Equipment
- Represent the Rigging Department when required to assist other trade groups
- Adhere to shift start, breaks, and end of shift stop times, unless overtime is required
- Attend Pre & Post Shift Tool-Box meetings
