Description:
This is a full time, fixed term vacancy, currently until 31st March 2026. Further extension subject to external funding. Based in Eston, working across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Team focussed on shifting the dial on population level physical activity in both Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
“You’ve Got This” is the Sport England supported Place Partnership in South Tees, collaborating with around 80 partner organisations to transform our approach to helping people move more, through place-based systems change. YGT is also part of Public Health South Tees, integrated into the wider team that focusses on tackling health inequalities and improving well-being throughout our communities.
The postholder will take a leading role in building on our work with organisations and communities over the last six years, in an increasingly strategic context. They will foster a greater appreciation and understanding of the role of physical activity in improving lives within our place, through building common purpose around our vision of “Active Lives as a Way of Life”.
They will provide leadership, advice, and challenge to embedding active living considerations into policies, procedures, strategies, and plans, whilst also building the capacity of leaders at all levels of the system to embed physical activity and systems ways of working within their work.
They will support this work through their value of the use of insight and a learning culture. Working closely with YGT’s Insight and Analytics Officer and fostering collaborative relationships with other evaluation partners, the postholder will use insight to influence decision-making locally and support embedding a learning culture into partner organisations. At Middlesbrough, we truly live our values and incorporate them into everything we do.
Applications are sought from individuals who are committed to demonstrating the values of Middlesbrough Council and who will also:
- Understand Place Based Whole Systems approaches to creating more active communities.
- Have experience of developing and sustaining effective relationships with a range of professionals, agencies, and organisations to catalyse change and increase impact.
- Understand and have experience of using evaluation and learning approaches suitable for demonstrating impact in complex systems and processes.
- Possess personal attributes that are recognised as having value in systemic place-based work, including outcomes focussed, valuing learning and reflective practice, resilient, adaptable, and being courageous.
