Creative Arts Technician(s) (Permanent Art Collection)

POSITION SUMMARY

The School of Arts and Education is seeking multiple part-time, term-certain Creative Arts Technicians to help with the curation of the RDP art collection. The Creative Arts Technicians will help the Art Curator with various aspects of the maintenance, cataloguing and displaying of the RDP art collection.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a 1-year college certificate, one year University or equivalent.

General Maintenance and Studio Upkeep

• Provides general clean-up and garbage removal from studios
• Repaints galleries, model stands, plinths or other items in the studios as required
• Repairs easels, changes saw blades/sanding belts under guidance of Visual Arts Technician
• Replaces canvas on ceramics and wedging tables as needed
• Deep cleans studios and reorganize based on faculty needs, as needed
• Organizes storage spaces
• Deep cleans specific studio areas as requested by supervisor
• Ensures spaces are clean, tidy, and ready for next intakes

• Hangs posters, art work and signage as neededOther duties as assigned

Inventory and Equipment Moving

• Assists with inventory restock and equipment installation
• Restocks supply rooms and storage cabinets as required
• Ensures tables, chairs, easels, and model stands are returned to designated studios
• Moves studio equipment and tools to designated studios
• Moves material to proper storage facilities
• Proper removal and handling of equipment
• Other duties as assigned
