VersaBank is looking to add a Credit Analyst to our Real Estate Lending team. This is currently a hybrid role located in London, Ontario.
The Credit Analyst, Real Estate Lending plays an important role within the Real Estate Lending Team by providing underwriting support to our experienced origination team. This role will be responsible for the timely and effective adjudication of commercial and real estate loan applications through comprehensive credit analyses, analyzing credit bureaus, and evaluating asset values within departmental guidelines and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post Secondary degree in business, finance, economics, business administration or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a financial institution
  • Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, accounting principles and credit application preparation
  • Proven experience using the Microsoft Office suite with a focus on Word and Excel
  • Detail oriented with the ability to identify errors and provide solutions
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and written
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure while meeting critical deadlines

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and provide analysis of third-party reports including, financial statements, rent rolls, appraisals, ESAs and other credit information
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensure all credit and other risks are adequately identified in credit correspondence and credit structure mitigants are recommended
  • Ensure credit reviews are completed in a timely basis or the necessary approvals for extensions are obtained
  • Ensure aspects of increased risk are identified and communicated to the appropriate levels in all instances where potential for credit loss has been identified
  • Recommendations changes to policies and procedures where either market conditions warrant or operational efficiencies can be realized without increasing business risk.
  • Work closely with Credit Administration Team to ensure all lending terms and conditions established with borrowing client are adhered to at all times
  • Provide analytical and administrative support for special projects as required
  • Responsible to remain current and comply with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing legislation, regulations and requirements (including all internal policies and procedures) as they pertain to the position’s area(s) of responsibilities.
  • Stay up-to-date on current events impacting the commercial real estate market throughout Canada.
