Description:

Ebury is a hyper-growth FinTech firm, named in 2021 as one of the top 15 European Fintechs to work for by AltFi. We offer a range of products including FX risk management, trade finance, currency accounts, international payments and API integration.
Location: Ebury Düsseldorf Office located in central Düsseldorf - 4 days a week, office-based working (1 day from home office)
A key role building out the underwriting function in a context of a fast growing Fintech with a worldwide footprint.
Our lending is powered by business insight. The risk team undertakes a rigorous analysis of the SME businesses looking to take our services. This includes an assessment of their markets, financials, products, activities and cash headroom modelling. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare submissions and present to our Credit Committee making recommendations, as well as contribute to the development of automated risk modelling and to adapt our processes to local markets.
The ideal candidate would complement Ebury’s analytical and statistical capabilities with their own country-specific hands-on knowledge of defaults, credit underwriting, and collections. The key is to add qualitative insight to credit decisions including granting lines, monitoring and pursuing collections.

Responsibilities:

As a Credit Risk Analyst you will:

  • Assess company financials, operations and trade cycles to understand fundamental business health and inherent credit risks
  • Analyse companies’ structure, their Directors and activity to understand Fraud Risk Synthesise and present analysis to Senior Leadership during the decision making process
  • Monitor the existing client portfolio and review requests from existing clients.
  • Ad-Hoc reporting, documentation of credit decisions

The Person

  • University degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or similar
  • Fluency in German (essential) and English
  • Ability to read German management accounts (BWA, SuSa)
  • Experience in understanding how businesses work and perform. Full understanding of balance sheet, P&L and cash flow
  • Analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable strong analytical ability
  • Clear, concise communication style, with the ability to explain complex concepts coherently
  • Willingness to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
  • Working knowledge of Excel essential, VBA/Macros desirable
