Reporting to the Crew Deadhead and Travel Manager, the Crew Deadhead and Travel Specialist is responsible for the timely identification of pilot deadhead and simulator travel issues that could lead to loss of revenue as a result of J class spoilage (failure to cancel POS J class booking for CA and/or FO), and/or create day of flight operational issues as a result of an incomplete or incorrect booking.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or college diploma in Flight Services, Flight Operations or related field is an asset.
  • Previous Contact Centre, Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, Crew Administration or Crew Training experience is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
  • Knowledge of Altea and NetLine is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and monitor records effectively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement and achievement of objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS

Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily deadhead auditing (duplicates/no names/re-planning requirements/mismatches).
  • Monitor and support crew booking seat inventory requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis on deadhead booking irregularities.
  • Compile and maintain master list of J class exceptions (waitlisted flights) that includes monthly bookings from published pairings as well as ad-hoc requirements.
  • Reconcile daily unconfirmed J class wait list bookings.
  • Support Collective Agreement Pilot training seat requirements.
  • Monthly analysis on commercial crew positioning trends.
  • Investigate deadhead travel irregularities (DOF and retro issues – i.e., voyage reports) to get to the root cause of the issue, and report findings to the Manager of Operations, Crew Scheduling (Pilots).
  • Develop and maintain IRROP crew positioning processes.
  • Support pilot simulator travel requirements and conduct audits on upgrade issues.
  • Review overseas sim travel requirements and report discrepancies with booking priorities for instructors/students and missing staff priority data.
  • Manage OAL requirements (book, review, routing options, record PNR data, track issues).
  • Perform daily audit of cargo positioning flight movements to ensure no pilots are deadheading on cargo flights. Remove all 767F line deadheads, validate cargo only flight head counts, report missing ADC listings.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders such as RES, Airports, RMOPS, CJM, Flight Planning Coordinators, and Crew Planning regarding crew booking matters.
  • Validate deadhead pay claims from pilots and approve compensation as per Article 23 of the AC-ACPA Collective Agreement.
  • Respond to pilot deadhead inquiries.
  • Provide updated reports on spoilage numbers, root causes, frequencies, route trends, etc.
  • Develop and manage SOPs for deadhead travel.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
