Primary Responsibilities

  • The Crew Leader ensures overall performance of team to include KPI’s, such as quality, safety, process reliability, sanitation, GMP’s, and material yield.
  • This position pro-actively implements Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and daily problem solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Must be able to effectively coach, train, and ensure 100% compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people, believing that people will contribute to what they understand and feel is in their best and self-interest.
  • Must be able to structure their approach based on the core belief that the success of the company depends upon the capabilities and contributions of all people in the organization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leverages SMART goals, such as safety, quality, reliability, sanitation and waste, for the production team to guarantee a safe, clean, organized and defect-free environment
  • Removes barriers and obstacles to team performance. Demonstrates a sense of urgency, ownership and tenacity to resolve problems.
  • Communicates daily with the Team Manager to ensure daily management is effectively executed. Attends meetings and / or leads when the Team Manager is not available. Facilitates daily direction setting and Autonomous Maintenance team meetings.
  • Ensures operational discipline by guaranteeing that all procedures (SOPs), centerlines, and AM tools (OPLs, F-Tags, CIL’s) are consistently followed and standardized
  • Plans, directs and supports the daily activities the Technician team members to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals and business initiatives.
  • Resolves daily issues and minor mechanical problems and coordinates the need for non-routine adjustments and repairs through the maintenance team member.
  • Coordinates shift staffing, including, vacation scheduling and the coordination of labor to guarantee the lowest cost.
  • Provides input to evaluations and development/training plans for individuals within the team and effectively handles team interaction, including conflict management
  • Coaches / trains and on-boards new team members. Builds technical and business competencies.
  • Interacts cross functionally with other areas to share resources and support total plant objectives (including, but not limited to, Material Mgmt, QA, HR, product to packaging development, facilities maintenance, engineering etc…).
  • Leads and or facilitates Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives, including AM progression, pillar project teams, and root cause analysis
  • Manages time and attendance for production team

Basic Equipment Care and Housekeeping

  • Execute Autonomous Maintenance activities - general cleaning, inspection and lubrication of equipment to prescribed standards
  • Escalate equipment abnormalities and improvements to prevent future equipment deterioration
  • Ensure compliance of AM progression through routine internal team audits
  • Ability to understand the relationship between equipment and quality and can predict quality defects and discover their causes.
  • Perform Leader Standard Work (LSW) to ensure continuous compliance to plant standards
  • Support line team 5S compliance
  • Prioritize and escalate F-tags to ensure continued compliance

Data Analysis / Problem Solving / Troubleshooting

  • Escalate mechanical and equipment electrical control systems
  • Work independently or with a team and utilize problem solving tools (5 Why) to determine root cause, eliminate losses, and improve processes
  • Generate standardized work instructions / One Point Lessons / Job Aids
  • Develop basic documents to assist in routine troubleshooting and training
  • Participate on TPM projects
  • Maintain SAP, TrakSYS, Infinity, and other data systems to ensure accuracy
  • Generate reports to track trends to understand key opportunities for the production team. Leverage problem solving tools to convert opportunities into sustainable corrective actions.

Additional Duties

  • Coordinates resources and/or fills in and relieves for team member breaks and other planned and unplanned absences.
  • Supports planning team to ensure rate accuracy, run schedule optimization, and critical customer service needs
  • Manages team supply consumption to achieve budgeted goals
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have 2 years of production line experience in a leadership role.
  • Must be able to work overtime on frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling/production demands.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple math calculations.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors.

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Microsoft Windows knowledge preferred.
