About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Crisis Accommodation Support Worker! You will provide consistent support to young men, women and families with implementation of case management plans. Our Youth Services Program based in Upton Road provides highly supportive & therapeutic youth refuge accommodation to young people & families experiencing significant crisis and homelessness.
About the program

The program works intensively with young people to address issues that contribute to their unique experience of crisis & homelessness, with a particular focus on assisting young people to:

  • Develop life and living skills to prepare for independence
  • Address issues in relation to health, AOD & mental health
  • Promote opportunities to overcome exclusion and isolation
  • Explore education pathways and participation
  • Work towards long term sustainable housing

All Upton Rd Youth Services staff work within a psychologically informed practice environment and expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the support needs of all young people are the first priority.
The program operates a 24 hour, 7 days per week case management model and all staff are expected to actively participate in the life of the program and in the support of young people residing within.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide safe environment for all residents within the refuge setting
  • Provide informal support to all clients of the program such as outreach clients in the community
  • Work in direction of case management plans to assist young people to attend appointments relating to health, education, justice, and social inclusion
  • Complete comprehensive intake and risk assessment for all refuge clients, incorporating adequate assessment of the needs of accompanying children
  • Maintain accurate record keeping that meets legislative standards and completed in timely manner
  • Ensure safe management of the crisis accommodation program in conducting a comprehensive handover to colleagues

This is a casual position that will work across a range of shifts, including weekends, evenings and active overnight shifts. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHCADS Level 4.

What you will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Welfare or related field with degree qualification preferred
  • Relevant experience in Social Service environment
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A valid VIC Working with Children Check
