Job Description:
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Clinic Instructor is responsible for the supervision, evaluation and instruction of clinical protocols and procedures as per the learning objectives from the College of Complementary Health Care Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) curriculum guidelines. The incumbent assists in duties that support the operation of the program and contributes positively to the program by demonstrating commitment, cooperation, flexibility, and professional and appropriate behaviour. Student clinical internship schedules vary according to the semester, and they may be held at various locations outside the main campus.
Course Preparation, delivery, and administrative duties

  1. Oversee all student intern massage therapy treatments taking place in the student clinic
  • maintains professionalism at all times
  • demonstrates effective time management skills
  • retrieves the general clinic schedule for the day and review with students
  • sets goals and objectives for that day with students and discuss student expectations during clinic tutorial
  • performs room checks as frequently as possible; these checks are to observe, monitor and evaluate student progress. You would be expected to support student learning by demonstrating techniques, providing feedback on biomechanics, technique applications, home care etc.
  • observes and monitors student progress and provide both formative and summative feedback to students
  • develops in collaboration with the clinical coordinator the student evaluation schedules and inform students of the set schedule
  • conducts student evaluations a minimum of twice per semester
  • meets with student to review evaluation results and develop strategies for continuedlearning
  • documents and reports all incidents that involved either student or client safety and reports these incidence to the Clinical Coordinator
  • records and maintains student clinical credits, and reviews and cross checks the student log book a minimum of three times per semester
  • maintains all student records in a secure place
  • updates the clinical coordinator in a timely / regular manner regarding studentperformance, evaluations or for other operational and educational issues

Qualifications Required

Education & Experience

  • Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the CCHPBC with two years of clinical experience (mandatory)
  • Bachelor degree or higher, preferably in health related discipline (desired)
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR C

Skills & Abilities

  • performs all duties in accordance with the policies of Langara College and the terms and conditions of the contract
  • sets and models a high standard of professional behaviour and appropriate appearance
  • establishes and maintains effective relationships with administrators, peers, support staff, students and the community at large
  • demonstrates the following skills and abilities to a level of excellence each

session: team-teaching, teamwork at all levels, contributions to RMT program, materials development, student evaluations, administrative responsibilities, commitment to RMT program, cooperation, flexibility, professional and appropriate behaviour

  • remain current with relevant developments in the practice and professional development of massage therapy
  • maintain current certification in first aid and CPR
  • attend scheduled faculty and professional development meetings
  • performs other related duties as required

Hours vary with shift, preference given to candidates available for Wednesday morning shifts.
Compensation: $43-$48.25/hour (including 4% in lieu of vacation)
