Hours of Work: Full-Time Position; Monday-Friday; On-call
Day Shifts: 0800-1600
Pay Band: Band-U $35.61-$39.46

Location: This role is a remote work arrangement subject to on-site attendance as required at Kington General Hospital Site
In accordance with Article 9.05, where the previous incumbent returns to this position within the thirty (30) day trial period this position shall be deemed not vacant and the posting will be cancelled. Should the vacancy be cancelled, applicants to this posting shall be notified.

However, this does not guarantee the permanence of the shift time or work assignment for the position. The Hospital reserves its Management Rights under the CUPE Collective Agreement to make changes to shift time and work assignment as it deems necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Informatics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or any Health-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and hospital clinical system experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Registration, or scheduling, or Health Information Managment at a health care facility with an understanding of hospital information systems or IT systems or in/as any hospital operations department with an understanding of hospital information systems or IT systems;

OR

  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical informatics experience working closely with front line staff at a hospital or health system

OR

  • 3 years systems development experience in a corporate systems setting including 2 years recent experience in the development and support of clinical systems applications (i.e., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
  • Knowledge of registration, scheduling, patient flow workflows, Health Information Management; or Hospital workflows and operations.
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues and provide solutions using problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent prioritization, organizational skills, and project management methodologies, as demonstrated by the ability to manage own time and successfully complete multiple tasks and projects assigned simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with all levels of stakeholders and management to provide efficient customer service
  • Demonstrated good judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with little direct supervision and within a team
  • Demonstrated skills in working with all levels of staff in an organization and the ability to work with external groups, agencies, and/or individuals
  • Knowledge of principles and methodology of systems development life cycle
  • Working knowledge of common MS-Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of hospital information systems such as Cerner, Meditech, Epic – preferred
  • Technical knowledge of CCL (Cerner Common Language) with solid experience using it (evidenced by completion of Discern Beginner, Intermediate courses), knowledge of the Cerner Millennium database model, and familiarity with HTML/JavaScript – preferred
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oracle Health (Prev. Cerner) system configuration and Production Support - Provides HIS system support and on-call service as required; coordinates problem resolution related to end-user issues or errors, support enhancement and optimization of the system.
  • Provides end-user system support by troubleshooting issues and break-fixes and performing root cause analysis
  • Manages end-user requests by performing resolution analysis and research, conducting unit and integrated tests, and implementing as per change management policies
  • Works closely with clients and other stakeholders to understand workflow changes and issues that require analysis and resolution
  • Maintains the product component across Oracle Cerner system domains (e.g., Dev, Test, Production) as per regional domain management strategy
  • Executes system unit testing and integration testing for implementing new releases, upgrades, fixes and other changes; work with the Lumeo team to identify mission critical business process scenarios and core Cerner functionality to be tested
  • Performs updates and system maintenance activities specific to the product component
  • Supports product component enhancements and optimizations, as well as new application implementation or integrations, as required
  • Provides on-call support on rotational basis
  • Project Management and Coordination – works with the client to prioritize projects focused on enhancing or optimizing the RHIS, as well as executing all phases of the software development life cycle. Examples include:
  • Communicates with stakeholders to understand and document their unique business requirements
  • Develops and analyzes functional specifications and translate them into technical opportunities
  • Integrates systems and reconcile requirements across stakeholder groups
  • Gathers feedback from end users about system performance and develop potential solutions for identified problems while exercising regional change management processes and policies
  • Documents system issues and resolutions for future references
  • Monitors and assesses clinical workflows and make recommendations for improvement, where applicable
  • Contributes and documents procedures, guidelines, and project communications for clinical areas, attends on-going team meetings, monthly/ad hoc vendor and end-user meetings
  • Seeks guidance from senior clinical systems analyst for complex issues and configurations
  • Identifies and informs the workstream manager about key issues and roadblocks that may need attention from senior leadership
  • Education and Learning - Maintains a working knowledge of the clinical application in which they are trained and its relationship with other applications in the RHIS; coaches new team members in their respective function; cross-trains on other clinical applications; maintains knowledge of technological advances; maintains knowledge of hospital workflows and operations that may impact the system.
  • Other - Identifies and informs workstream managers of opportunities for optimizing the system to better support end-users, in conjunction with the stakeholders. Provides performance feedback.
