Description:

The role
As an Associate Project Manager for non-complex Combat Systems Integration (CSI) projects, the incumbent of this position is responsible for the delivery of quality projects outcomes, including managing external and internal stakeholders, communicating project resource requirements, achieving agreed project milestones, satisfying customer project requirements and any other project objectives documented in the Project Directive, and meeting the project budgeted gross margin.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Define and manage the scope of work, including schedule, cost and quality outcomes for assigned non-complex CSI projects.
  • Where applicable for larger CSI projects, assist project or program manager to define and manage the scope of work, including schedule, cost and quality outcomes for the project.
  • Develop the project approach to achieve project and corporate outcomes as per the Project Directive, including identification of opportunities in order to maximise outcomes. Assist supervising project manager or program manager where applicable for complex CSI projects.
  • Prepare, monitor and revise project plans, estimates, cost accounts and schedules for the project to meet the objectives set by the Project Directive. Assist supervising project manager or program manager where applicable for complex CSI projects.
  • Assess and manage project risk. Assist supervising project manager or program manager where applicable for complex CSI projects.
  • Assist or lead and present status (as applicable) at Steering Committee Meetings, Gate Reviews, Customer Reviews and Progress Meetings.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight and part time (0.8 FTE minimum) will be considered for this role.
About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
  • Ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and highly organised
  • Ability to prioritise and use initiative
  • Awareness of earned value management principles (desirable)
  • At least 2 years of experience in a project environment (essential) in the Defence industry (preferable)

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
