SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Field Operations the Construction Safety Officer will be the main safety support for our multiple City of Vancouver projects located across the GVA. The CSO will be required to travel to multiple sites and will be responsible for working collaboratively with several site project teams and sub-trades. They will be expected to implement and monitor the site-specific safety plan to ensure compliance, report any concerns, and implement solutions in accordance with the Companies safety program. This role is employed through CLAC, and membership will be required once hired.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO), Construction Safety Specialist (CSS) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification required.
- At least 4 years of construction site safety experience, ideally on commercial, residential, institutional, industrial or tenant improvement projects.
- Current Fall Protection, and Advanced First Aid ticket.
- Proven ability in building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders across various sites.
- Able to efficiently multi-task and has experience supporting as a CSO across a variety of sites simultaneously
- Valid Driver License and reliable transportation to travel to multiple sites
- Strong computer skills and are proficient working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication, influencing skills, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:
- Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with health and safety expectations across multiple sites in the Greater Vancouver Area
- Document progress in daily progress reports
- Provide site orientations to new workers/visitors to the site
- Monitor compliance to safety procedures and policies
- Educate workers on safety standards and best practices
- Initiate and supports incident response, notification, and investigation activities
- Conduct Toolbox meetings for site staff
- Review all Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
- Act as required to immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions
- Communicate safety requirements to all on site
