JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager, we are seeking a Cultivation Technician for our Foss location at Redecan. This role entails the application of pesticides in our cultivation process, ensuring the health and quality of our crops. The ideal candidate will possess a pesticide license and demonstrate proficiency in pesticide application techniques. This position requires a hands-on approach to cultivation activities, maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid pesticide license is required.
- Previous experience in agricultural or horticultural work preferred.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds, as required.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and withstand exposure to outdoor elements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Reliable transportation required.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.

Responsibilities:
- Follow strict internal protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Read and understand product labels, along with weigh and measure pesticides accurately according to label rate.
- Apply pesticide spray to crops according to Ontario Pesticide Applicators License and work instructions.
- Inspect product for defects and report abnormalities to supervisor immediately.
- Ability to identify phytotoxicity, maintain proper working order of spray machine and wash sprayer and record cleaning on tracker.
- Work cohesively with coworkers and communicate well with supervisors and management.
- Accept guidance from Team Leads and Growers and Master Growers regarding application technique.
- Keep a tidy and organized working area and ensure personnel within their team are as well and responsible for communicating with the team leads.
- Additional plant care responsibilities outside spray hours which include pruning, irrigation, planting, and harvesting.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA, 2000).
- Follow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any new revisions along Quality Assurance SOPs, policies, and guidelines.
- Apply pesticides following prescribed procedures and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of pesticide supplies.
- Inspect crops for signs of pests and disease, reporting findings to management.
- Collaborate with cultivation team members to ensure timely and effective pesticide application.
- Operate and maintain spraying equipment and machinery.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements related to pesticide application and cultivation practices.
- Assist with other cultivation tasks as needed, such as watering, pruning, and harvesting.
