Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Experience of organising, running and delivering cookery sessions would be an advantage
  • An appropriate qualification in Food Hygiene is required minimum of level
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Experience within a custodial setting and or kitchen setting would be idea
  • To proactively promote and deliver cultural kitchen activities in line with contractual and statutory requirements and relevant standards.
  • To deliver Food Hygiene courses with an assessment process leading to detainees gaining a relevant qualification in Food Handling or Food Hygiene.
  • Coordinate the daily operation of the cultural kitchen ensuring appropriate resources, including food, are available for detainees and these resources are used cost effectively whilst all relevant standards ore met.
  • Oversee and undertake the preparation of food ensuring high standards of health and hygiene are maintained at all time.
  • Organise and oversee a booking system that ensures detainees from all cultures and backgrounds have an opportunity to access the facility and that uptake of the provision is maximised.
  • Be conversant with craft skills, menu knowledge, presentation and display of foods and portion sizes and assist in the training and development of the detainees working within the Cultural Kitchen.
  • Organise and oversee the cleanliness of the Cultural Kitchen ensuring all areas and equipment meet relevant standards at all time.
  • Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly environment where detainees feel welcomed and respected.
