DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Cultural and Educational Mediation, the incumbent will help create and host educational activities organized by the Stewart Hall and Art Gallery. The incumbent will contribute to the development of cultural mediation activities adapted to various audiences and help organize specific artistic and cultural events related to cultural activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Student at least at the college level in creative arts, recreation and leadership training, or any other field related to arts, culture, recreation, educational studies, social studies, or communications or cultural mediation.
  • Experience in art education or cultural mediation with various audiences;
  • Fluency in spoken French and English;
  • Good knowledge of written French, with knowledge of written English an asset;
  • Tact, calm, and courteous manner;
  • Interest in contemporary art;
  • Ability to popularize and adapt content for specific target audiences;
  • Autonomy;
  • Punctuality;
  • Creativity;
  • Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Welcome and inform audiences;
  • Host artistic and cultural activities (visits, workshops, or any other activity) using various educational strategies adapted to different audiences;
  • Participate in the creation of the cultural mediation program;
  • Participate in the creation and development of educational activities for specific audiences (daycares, day camps, seniors, families, audiences with special needs, immigrants, etc.), both at the Cultural Centre and other venues;
  • Participate in the creation and production of educational tools through research, popularization, and writing educational content;
  • Help organize and host cultural events;
  • Participate in the evaluation of visitor experience: collect and compile statistics and comments and conduct ad hoc surveys;
  • Organize the way art materials are stored, restocked, and maintained while respecting the best responsible procurement practices;
  • Performing all other related tasks.
