APS6 - PROGRAM MANAGER, CURATORIAL AND COLLECTION RESEARCH

The Library is seeking fill an APS 6 Program Manager on a non-ongoing basis until 30 October 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the Curatorial and Collection Research Section. The successful candidate will contribute to the Collection Branch strategic priority ‘to collect today what will be important tomorrow for Australia’s increasingly diverse community’.
The Library is a respected custodian of Australia’s published, written, oral, visual and digital heritage, and a world-leading provider of access to that heritage. The collection is at the centre of the work we do to extend national reach and develop collaborative content. The Collection Branch is committed to developing capability to modernise our work practices, responding flexibly and innovatively to the changed and changing nature of our work, with a special focus on developing a culturally competent workforce capable of sensitively engaging with Indigenous people and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The role provides the right candidate with the opportunity to contribute to and grow their knowledge and experience in working with collections to lead a range of activities. This includes proactively identifying and acquiring material for the collection.
The role has people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities, requiring engagement with staff across the Library and maintains positive working relationships with a network of people and organisations external to the Library.
Under limited direction this may include:
- Providing expertise, knowledge, and specialised advice to develop and drive proactive and reactive collecting activities across all Library collection formats and to oversee collection project work.
- Supporting selection of material for digitisation.
- Supporting curatorial and research programs involving public and researcher access to collections including public programs and fellowships.
