Job Summary:

  • This position will provide current product and project launch leadership, serve as a leader of a multi-disciplinary team, and provide core technical support, ensure the cost timing and performance objectives are met for assigned projects and provide training to other engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering activities to support current product (Product Design, Development, verification methods, necessary analyses, etc.) while interfacing with global customers.
  • Assist and coordinates in identifying, reporting, researching, and resolving customer problems/concerns.
  • Assist and coordinates in identifying, reporting, researching, and resolving FTQ/Scrap problems/concerns.
  • Manage technology development and integration into existing and new product/process opportunities.
  • Mechanical design using NX software including analysis of stack ups, material properties, etc.
  • Development and testing for brushless DC (BLDC) and brushed motor actuators.
  • Leads team to ensure product design and performance compliance with STONERIDGE, regulatory and customer specification.
  • Ensures adequate project and technical communications (e.g. meetings, oral reports, technical reports) with STONERIDGE personnel, management, suppliers, and customers.
  • Work with Operations and Quality functions to evaluate improvements to existing processes. Participate in cross-functional teams to define and execute improvement projects when required.
  • Work with Process and Manufacturing Engineering to improve the robustness and manufacturability of current and new products utilizing Design for Manufacture and Assembly techniques.
  • Coordinate activities with Sales, Purchasing, Supplier Development, Supplier Quality, and Operations to execute new programs as well as support activities related to in-production products.
  • Create and support in writing/ compiling engineering documentation.
  • Utilizes knowledge of current procedures, regulations, customer and industry requirements and practices to successfully create, assist in defining product specifications in order to obtain new business.
  • Perform special assignments as necessary.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Education

  • Technical bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Automotive industry experience and experience with mechatronic modules is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of the following required: mechanical design, gear/geartrain design, embedded electronics, embedded software, electrical machines such as brushed and brushless DC motors.
  • Experience in the application of mechatronic products in Automotive, ground transportation applications.
  • Experience in product development and validation for high volume applications such as automotive, ground transportation, or aerospace.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of automotive industry, procedures/system e.g. Statistical analysis, ISO, TS-16949, FMEA, ECO system, PDP, DVP&R, GD&T, DOE, etc.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of cause-and-effect relationships that will provide the skill to identify and solve problems using tools such as FTA, 8-D, 5-why analysis, etc.
  • Experience with UGNX or similar CAD program is preferred.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks.
  • Able to communicate and write effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the issues.
  • Ability to lead effective communication internally as well as with STONERIDGE customers and suppliers.
  • Experience working in and/or managing globally resourced teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel when needed.
