Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Customer Underwriting Team Manager to join us. We’re offering a competitive base salary. You will pro-actively manage and develop an Underwriting team to help them be the best they can be, consistently delivering quality Underwriting Risk Management Decisions, in line with our philosophy. To represent Legal & General in a way that positively role models our values and behaviours.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing your team by developing, coaching and empowering people that embeds a culture of people engagement and value. Leading with an understanding of your people as individuals and role modelling the values and behaviours with a positive can-do attitude
  • Contributing positively to the planning, forecasting and the allocation of work to the team to ensure work is completed in line with published standards
  • Developing mutually beneficial relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for our customers, people and the business
  • Creating a culture which enables people to constructively challenge the way we work to improve the way we do things, including customer journey and efficiency
  • Using a range of management information and observations to review performance and set clear expectations, documenting this clearly to track on going performance improvements
  • Contributing to the planning, forecasting and the allocation of work to the team to ensure work is completed in line with published standards
  • Understanding the commitments that are made about the level of service during the marketing and sales processes to ensure the area is capable of meeting those expectations and that customers’ reasonable expectation of performance and service are met

Qualifications

  • Product, system and processes used with the respective business area
  • Awareness of business strategy
  • Good level of knowledge and principles of Insurance
  • Knowledge of products, processes procedures of relevant business area
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, coaching and motivational skills to deliver our vision of doing the right things in the right way for our customers, shareholders and colleagues
  • Has the knowledge and awareness of internal policies and controls to protect our customers, people, and shareholders by complying with regulatory requirements and operational risk guidelines
  • Able make accurate and confident decisions within authorised autonomy
  • Able to understand and interpret a range of MI and the ability to analyse and evaluate risk data
