Description:

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Customs & Brokerage Supervisor, and as a member of the Supply Chain team, the Customs & Brokerage Assistant is responsible for all aspects of international importation including booking/routing, scheduling, customs clearance, reporting, processing and verifying Cabela’s Canada brokerage invoices as well as international inbound freight charges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, logistics and supply chain management or related field, or equivalent of 1-2 years of related experience in administration and accounts payable
  • Must have knowledge of HS classifications and rating process
  • Prior customs brokerage and supply chain experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) experience is an asset
  • Attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player both within the department and throughout the company

Responsibilities:

  • Organize broker invoices with duties and taxes and record for monthly reconciliation (K84/CAD) and remittance to receiver general.
  • Audit customs entry summaries (broker invoices) to ensure accurate documentation and calculations prior to processing payment.
  • Mitigate supply chain and customs clearance issues.
  • Collaborate with freight forwarders in overseeing all aspects of international shipping.
  • Manage reporting in support of overseas shipping.
  • Responsible for managing and collaborating with direct import vendors.
  • Routing with US carriers for importation into Canada.
  • Review and process international inbound freight invoices for payment.
  • Review freight factor calculation in comparison to SAP.
  • Communicate verbally and written with vendors and internal departments to address discrepancies impacting supply chain, finance, and compliance.
