Description:
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient import and export of goods, while adhering to all customs regulations and procedures. This role involves tasks such as preparing customs documentation, classifying goods, and coordinating with customs authorities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international trade regulations and the ability to navigate complex customs processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
- Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, International Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the customs department of maquiladora (manufacturing plant operating under a maquila program).
- Knowledge of Customs Classification: Understanding the system used to categorize imported and exported goods for the purpose of assessing duties.
- Experience using import/export software: Proficiency in specialized software systems commonly used in international trade (a list of specific software may be provided in Annex 24).
- Experience in VUCEM and DataStage: Familiarity with these systems used for customs procedures and data management.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to communicate optimally in English, both written and spoken.Preferred qualifications: Experience with CTPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism), OEA (Origin Evaluation Assessment), and IVA (Value Added Tax) certifications.
Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Ensures optimal import and export operations in a timely manner and in compliance with customs clearance formalities.
- Ensures correct tariff classification and customs valuation of goods.
- Prepares documentation for raw materials, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items, machinery, and equipment.
- Handles the services provided by customs brokers.
- Coordinates virtual operations with suppliers and customers.
- Runs subcontracting operations.
- Handles the digital file for operations carried out in the electronic customs system.Requests import permits, rule eight permits, and ensures compliance with non-tariff regulations.
