POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking an Entry-Level Cyber Analyst/Modeler (Operations Research Analyst) to formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision-making, policy formulation, and other managerial functions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance.
  • BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET-accredited or CAE-designated institution OR possess a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in cyber analysis and/or cyber modeling.
  • Skilled in collecting data from various cyber defense resources.
  • Ability to recognize and categorize types of vulnerabilities and associated attacks.
  • Skilled in performing packet-level analysis.
  • Experience conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing security system vulnerabilities.
  • Experience using penetration testing tools and techniques.
  • Skilled in using network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities (e.g., fuzzing, nmap).
  • Skilled in determining how a security system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment affect outcomes.
  • Ability to discern protection needs (i.e., security controls) of information systems and networks.
  • Experience in designing countermeasures to identify security risks.
  • Ability to secure test plan design (e.g., unit, integration, system, acceptance).
  • Experience in using code analysis tools.

Responsibilities:

In this role, the primary responsibilities include analyzing data and information from multiple sources to prepare the environment, respond to requests for information, and submit intelligence collection and production requirements to support planning and operations. This position involves the analysis and development of integration, testing, operations, and maintenance of systems security. The role requires assisting senior positions or performing functional duties under their oversight, and may involve collecting and analyzing data, developing decision support software, services, or products. Additionally, responsibilities may include developing and supplying optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
Using data collected from various cyber defense tools such as IDS alerts, firewalls, and network traffic logs, the individual will analyze events within their environments to mitigate threats. They will perform assessments of systems and networks within the NE or enclave to identify deviations from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy, and measure the effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture against known vulnerabilities. The role includes conducting independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system, in order to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls as defined in NIST 800-37. Lastly, the position involves analyzing the security of new or existing computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs and providing actionable results.
